TASTE AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD AND DRINK IN PUNTA MITA

Hidden on a stunning stretch of Pacific coastline on the Riviera Nayarit, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is part of an ultra-luxurious private community, just 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta International Airport. Boasting easy access and glamorous atmosphere, this beachfront hideaway is just as well known for excellence in cuisine.

Just last year, this expansive 21-hectare (52-acre) resort completed a multi-year, multi-million dollar renovation. Guests can now enjoy newly reimagined casita-style guest rooms and suites, along with well-appointed private villas and beach homes. For relaxation, there’s a choice of sprawling beaches and swimming pools, restorative treatments at Apuane Spa and friendly competition on the two Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses. There are also extensive programs for kids and teens.

With 10 open-air restaurants and bars on-site, the Resort provides many culinary options, including a toes-in-the-sand experience at Bahía by Richard Sandoval, new plant-based vegan bowls by Chef Leslie Durso at Tamai, and the signature Dos Catrinas restaurant, where the bar stocks over 200 types of tequila. But there are many other ways your clients can discover authentic Mexican flavours from a menu of special experiences:

• SEA FORAGING: Guests wade into the waters just off the Resort’s beaches to collect seaweed, sea urchins and octopus with their own two hands. Executive Chef Jorge Gonzalez shares his culinary insights during the activity and then prepares a private dinner using the foraged finds.

• CATCH OF THE DAY: Three times a week, guests can meet a Four Seasons chef on the beach to choose from a variety of fresh seafood delivered on a local fishing boat. The chef then prepares the selections just as requested.

• MEXICAN SPIRITS FLIGHT: It’s not only Mezcal and Tequila in the world of Mexican spirits. In this tasting experience, guests can discover diverse drinks from different parts of the country, paired with snacks to clear the palate. Among the selections:

  • Pox, a prehispanic beverage made by the ancient Mayas using corn, wheat and sugar cane.
  • Sotol, a spirit made from the dasylirion plant, was produced for over 800 years in the northern desert states.
  • Raicilla, made using agave from specific local varieties in small distilleries in the coastal areas of Nayarit and Jalisco.
  • Charanda, an artisanal spirit made from sugar cane, produced in Michoacán state, high above sea level, giving the sugar cane a high sugar content with a unique flavour and aroma.

• SPEARFISHING ADVENTURE: Guests can set sail for a day of spearfishing for mahi mahi. Back at the Resort, a Four Seasons chef will expertly prepare their catch in one of the restaurants – or in their own private villa.

• OCTOPUS CATCH & COOK: In this signature Punta Mita activity, certified diving instructors teach free-diving and octopus fishing techniques, then escort guests on an off-shore expedition. The chef then transforms their catch into signature Mexican octopus dishes.

• TEQUILA BLENDING EXPERIENCE: Guests join Enrique Alejos, the Four Seasons Punta Mita Cultural Concierge, to learn about the five tastes and 50 aromas of Tequila. They then put what they learned to use by creating a personal blend of Tequila from local barrels. It’s a one-of-a-kind souvenir to bring home.

On the southern coast of Egypt, where the Sinai Desert meets the Red Sea, Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh has been a favourite of sunseekers since opening nearly 20 years ago – and it’s always been renowned for superior cuisine.

Now a major expansion and enhancement project is doubling the size of the Resort, growing from 22 hectares (54 acres) to 44 hectares (109 acres). When the enhancements are complete in late 2021, guest accommodations will increase by 115, bringing the total offering to 169 guest rooms and a remarkable 146 suites and chalets, including 28 new one- and two-bedroom suites – 13 boasting private pools. The new beachfront top-level suite, the Palace, spans 565 square metres (6,000 square feet).

In addition to a kilometre of private beachfront, there will be new swimming pools, an all-new Spa and fitness facility, a new PADI dive centre, an all-new children’s club, and a large conference centre for meetings and destination weddings for up to 2,000 guests.
